Mushtaq batted through the innings to play his best knock for the club with future England paceman Jimmy Anderson taking 5-41 and sub pro Jon Harvey 4-63 for the home side.

Haslingden's defeat at Nelson last Sunday means the title wont be decided until the final weekend of the season. Second placed Accrington who are 16 points behind the leaders face away games at Church and Lowerhouse. Matt Schofield replaces James Ormerod in the Accrington side on Saturday. The visitors hope skipper David Ormerod will be fit to play after suffering a recurrence of a thigh injury whilst bowling against Bacup last Sunday. Church make three changes with Alec and Sam Holt and Sagawat Hussain replacing Pete Rowbottom, Joel Gaskill and Luke Gilrane.
On Sunday Accrington call on David Lloyd to undertake Mission Virtually Impossible to retain the title. The veteran returns to play on the ground where he earned his first collection back in 1964 in place of Matt Schofield. An interesting footnote to this match is the performance of the opposing professionals. Accrington's Roy Silva has had a nightmare this season after the success of 2009 whilst Lowerhouse have nominated Jon Finch as professional for the final matches after juggling various subs all season. Both players currently have 24 wickets and almost identical run aggregates with Finch totalling 6 more on 339. The difference is that Finch has only played half a season and so has a far superior average in both disciplines. Finch averages 33.9 against Silva's 18.5 with the bat. With the ball Finch's wickets come at 18.1 with Silva's costing over 10 runs each more. Wicketkeeper Jack McGregor hopes to be fit enough to replace Joe Martin behind the sticks for the home side. Wednesday September 2nd
With the title now seemingly out of reach following the wash out at Haslingden on Sunday, Accrington face Bacup in the final senior game at Thorneyholme Road this season looking to pick up points to cement the Holland Cup for the first time since 1989. The visitors have recorded twelve wins with two games finishing as no results in that time. Lowerhouse name an unchanged team with Carl Sandri again acting as sub professional. Looking back at this match in 1959 On Sunday Accrington visit leaders Haslingden who going into the weekend were 20 points ahead of the champions who have played one game more. Haslingden are unchanged. Looking back at this match in 1959 Don't forget the new 7 a-side Under 16s tournament on August Bank Holiday Monday at Thorneyholme Road. The double headers return this weekend with six games to go and four weekends left of the 2009 season. On Saturday second placed Accrington welcome new Worsley Cup winners Ramsbottom to Thorneyholme Road. Matt Schofield replaces Gul Khan in the home sides line-up whilst Ramsbottom are at full strength. Looking back at this match in 1959 On Sunday Accrington visit Church in a local derby. The home side go into the match full of confidence, sitting in fifth place with two recent wins over four time Accrington conquerors Todmorden and also a victory earlier in the season over current leaders Haslingden under their belts. It's two years since Church last beat Accrington so Phill Gilrane's men will be going all out to put the record straight in their quest for a top four place. Accrington are unchanged whilst Church stick with Saturday's squad. Leading bowler Andy Bentley is a major doubt with a side strain. Looking back at this match in 1959

It's a make or break game at Centre Vale for both Accrington and Todmorden as the title chasers look to stay with leaders Haslingden, who have set a hot pace with eight successive wins to move 20 points clear of second placed Accrington, who have played a game more than the rest of the pack. Wednesday July 22nd
The double headers return this weekend with two vital matches against Rawtenstall and Rishton. On Saturday Accrington entertain Rawtenstall who were Holland Cup winners and David Ormerod's men's main rivals for the title last season. Having lost several key players, Vinny Hanson's men have had a hard season but are just running into form with successive victories against Lowerhouse and Todmorden. League Legend Keith Roscoe has been lured out of retirement and he already has 11 wickets from three matches since his return. Accrington will also be up against their former all rounder Toby Bulcock. The visitors name an unchanged team whilst Damian Clarke replaces Matt Schofield in the Accrington team. League leaders Accrington travel to Turf Moor on Saturday to take on Burnley.
The champions have named both professional Roy Silva and Graham Lloyd after injury scares. Silva picked up a hamstring injury against Enfield in the 20/20 last Friday that kept him out of Sunday's win over Colne whilst Lloyd injured his calf during his half century and finished his innings with a runner. Qasim Ali returns to the Burnley team. The corresponding match back in 1959 featured the Lancashire League's most famous big hit. Looking back at this match in 1959
Wednesday June 24th
After a rare day of rest on Saturday, league leaders Accrington face an intriguing test on Sunday when lowly Colne visit Thorneyholme Road. Jeff Ellis' men are quite capable of beating any team in the league when professional Anwar Ali gets it right with either bat or ball. The Pakistani paceman has taken 17 wickets in his last three matches, two of which have produced victories. The 21 year-old is no mug with the bat either as his 124 against Bacup illustrates. Matt Wilson returns after injury and Paul Carroll comes back after business commitments into the Accrington team in place of Damian Clarke, who has decided to stand down from the senior side for the forseeable future, and Bryn Hargreaves. Colne are unchanged.
