Champions Accrington were the only team to pick up 5 points to close the gap between themselves and East Lancs to 7 points after a 1 wicket win at Nelson. Professional Alan Worsick took 5-35 and Tony Gallagher 3-19 as the home side were bowled out for 101. Derek Grandfield picked up 3 early wickets in reply as Nelson put up a terrific fight but Alan Richardson proved to be the man of the hour with an innings of 29 with Malcolm Taylor hitting 20, but it got down to the last pair of Dave Parsons and Terry Neville to keep Accrington in the title race with the narrowest of victories.
